📢Cemetery Niche Wall Project – Relocation Update📢
The Shire of Katanning wishes to update the community on the progress of the Cemetery Niche Wall Project.
While the Niche Walls have been completed and preparations for the relocation of loved ones is underway, the Shire advises that the relocation of ashes will now be delayed until late September 2025 due to the expected delivery date of materials required to complete the paving in this area. This extension is necessary to ensure all arrangements are carried out with the utmost care and respect
To ensure continuity and minimise disruption for families—particularly those who no longer reside locally or may be difficult to contact—the Shire has made the decision to retain the original numbering system. This means all loved ones will be relocated to the corresponding number on the new walls. This approach:
· Preserves the historical numbering of the cemetery;
· Ensures continuity for visitation; and
· Reduces the potential for confusion or distress when families return to visit their loved ones.
We thank the community for their continued patience and understanding during this important transition. Further updates will be provided closer to the relocation date, including opportunities for family members who wish to personally assist in the relocation of their loved ones.
